Meet the
Alabai Breed
The Alabai originates in the area of the world we now know as Central Asia (modern day Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan). This primitive, rustic breed is one of humanity’s earliest companions, fearlessly guarding livestock, property and people for millenia.
The Central Asian Shepherd is a capable guardian bred to endure almost any conditions.
They thrive in heat, cold, and difficult terrain with a stoic implacability that they also apply to their guardian duties.
They are robust defenders who have the capability to warn of, threaten, and drive away intruders of all types from whatever they protect.
The Central Asian Shepherd is a unique blend of size, speed, athleticism and strength.
Although they display a deep loyalty and affection for their owners, they are independent thinkers uninclined to slavish obedience. This can make them a challenge for first-time dog owners. Because of their protective instincts, investing in extensive socialization is required. They do, however, develop a magnificent relationship with their owners, learning to exceed expectations without rote commands. Many owners swear that their Alabai grow to understand them with an almost human level of insight. The Central Asian Shepherd is a sensitive family member who bonds and engages well when raised with children.
Meet Mum & Dad
Dasha
Miss Dasha was our first foray into the CAS breed, and she has proven to be a wonderful testament to the breed. She is polite in the house, gentle with the kids, and gives us sensitive looks that make us think she really is understanding everything said to her! She turns heads whenever we take her out, and has even shown success in the ring!
Aslan
Aslan came to us a few short generations from Tajik lines. His aboriginal outline is evident in his head shape and the masculine nature of his structure. He is a very sharp guardian who takes every moment of duty seriously. His penetrating stare reminds you of just why this breed is so trusted to protect what is most valuable.
